Prestwich Carnival Day

Filed under: circus skills, Community — alltheskills @ 3:50 pm

Our final gig for this year’s Prestwich Festival. Sean and Naomi were joined by volunteer Leom to run drop in style circus workshops at the carnival day in St. Mary’s Park.

After an initially slow start due to the ominous weather, the three of us were kept busy all afternoon introducing both children and adults to a range of hand help props. The unicycle turned into some test of masculinity and one of the Dad’s experimented with a flower stick for hours and turned out to be pretty good.

The hula hoops proved very popular, so popular in fact that someone walked away with one of them 😦

A lesson for the future is that for outside gig it is not worth taking the performer hoops as they can’t take the hard wear and tear and break. Keep watching for lessons in how to create your own cheap yet durable hula hoops!
